Moulded Wax Agave 'Romeo'
Echeveria agavoides 'Romeo' is a highly sought-after succulent for collectors, known for its dramatic and unusual colouring. Unlike many Echeverias that trend towards blue or green, 'Romeo' displays thick, rigid leaves in a striking shade of purplish-red to dusty rose, with a distinctive wax-like texture. The leaf tips are pointed and often turn a deeper burgundy under intense light or cold stress. It forms a solitary, stemless rosette that can reach 15-20cm in diameter. In spring and summer, it produces pinkish-red flowers with yellow tips on long, slender stalks. In the UK, this plant is best grown as a houseplant or in a conservatory, as it is tender (H2) and will not survive frost. It requires a very bright position to maintain its deep red tones and avoids appearing 'stretched'. Watering should be infrequent, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between applications, and always evitando water sitting in the central crown.
