Mexican Snowball
Echeveria affinis 'Black Knight' is a dramatic and desirable succulent, grown for its incredibly dark, almost black, pointed leaves that form a striking rosette. While not fully hardy in most of the UK, it makes an exquisite potted specimen for a sunny conservatory, greenhouse, or a sheltered patio during the summer months from May to September. In late summer, it produces tall flower spikes bearing bell-shaped, dark red flowers, which provide a beautiful contrast to the foliage. It requires excellent drainage and a bright, sunny position. Protect from frost and excessive winter wet to ensure its survival.
Sun: Full sun.
Soil: Well-drained gritty compost.
Hardiness: H1C.
Flowering: Jul, Aug.
