Autumn Fern 'Brilliance'
Dryopteris erythrosora 'Brilliance' is a stunning evergreen or semi-evergreen fern, celebrated for its new fronds emerging in a brilliant coppery-red, maturing to a rich, glossy green. This vibrant display offers a captivating splash of colour, particularly in spring and autumn, adding significant seasonal interest to the UK garden. It typically forms a neat, vase-shaped clump, reaching about 60cm in height and spread. 'Brilliance' thrives in partial to full shade, preferring moist, well-drained, humus-rich soil, making it ideal for shaded borders, woodland gardens, or as an underplanting for shrubs. It's relatively low-maintenance and tolerant of a range of soil conditions, provided they don't become waterlogged. Its robust nature and year-round appeal make it a popular choice for adding texture and colour to shadier spots.
