Male Fern 'Robust'

Dryopteris affinis 'Robust', a cultivar of the native Golden Scaled Male Fern, is a magnificent semi-evergreen to deciduous fern, celebrated for its robust constitution and impressive stature. It forms a grand, upright shuttlecock of fronds, easily reaching over 1 meter in height and spread. The deeply cut, rich green fronds are subtly textured and emerge in spring with the characteristic golden scales on the stipes. This fern is particularly vigorous and tolerant, thriving in a wide range of conditions from full shade to partial sun, as long as the soil is moist and well-drained. An outstanding choice for adding structural elegance to larger woodland gardens or naturalised areas.
