Tufted Hair Grass 'Palava'

Deschampsia cespitosa 'Palava' is a distinguished cultivar of tufted hair grass, celebrated in UK gardens for its particularly refined and graceful flower display. It forms a dense clump of fine, dark green leaves, providing a neat base. In summer, an abundance of incredibly delicate, airy panicles emerge on tall, slender stems, creating a misty, translucent cloud above the foliage. These plumes are initially greenish-purple, maturing to a shimmering golden-bronze, catching the light beautifully and creating a sense of movement. 'Palava' is perfect for adding texture and softness to borders, naturalising in meadows, or providing a sophisticated touch in contemporary designs. It's very hardy and adaptable, thriving in various light and soil conditions.
