Ice Plant 'Fire Spinner'
Delosperma 'Fire Spinner' is a high-impact, mat-forming succulent that brings a riot of colour to sunny borders and rockeries. This vigorous groundcover is smothered in large, daisy-like bicolour flowers from late spring into summer. The blooms feature brilliant orange outer petals that fade into a bright magenta-pink ring around a white centre. Its succulent, needle-like foliage remains evergreen, providing a lush green carpet throughout the year. While many Delospermas struggle with UK damp, 'Fire Spinner' is relatively robust and can survive temperatures down to -15°C (H5) if drainage is impeccable. It is an excellent choice for stabilizing slopes or filling gaps in sunny walls. To ensure winter survival, it should be planted in a sheltered, south-facing spot where it can bask in the sun. Avoid heavy clay; instead, provide a gritty, free-draining medium. It is drought-tolerant once established and requires minimal intervention once the flowering season concludes.
Sun: Full sun.
Soil: Gritty, free-draining sandy loam.
Hardiness: H5 — down to −15°C.
