Dahlia 'Pooh'
Dahlia 'Pooh' is a delightful Collerette-type dahlia that brings a sense of fun to the UK garden. It features bright scarlet-red outer petals and a contrasting 'collar' of smaller, bright yellow petals around a yellow centre. This cheery colour combination is exceptionally popular and, being a single-type flower, it is a magnet for bees. It grows to around 90-120cm in height and has a sturdy, upright habit. In the UK, 'Pooh' is often used in mixed borders where its bright bicolour blooms can mingle with other perennials. As with all dahlias, it should be planted out after the last frosts in May and requires a sunny spot with good, fertile soil. The tubers must be lifted and stored in a frost-free place during the winter months. Its name and bright appearance make it a particular favourite for family gardens, and it is a reliable and prolific bloomer throughout the summer.
