Dahlia 'Mystic Illusion'

Part of the modern Mystic series, 'Mystic Illusion' is a dramatic choice for British gardens, featuring striking filigree-like, near-black foliage. This creates a stunning contrast with the bright, lemon-yellow single flowers that boast a dark central disc. Reaching a height of about 60-80cm, it has a tidy, upright habit that makes it suitable for both border fronts and large patio containers. Flowering starts in July and continues unabated until the frosts arrive. The single flowers are particularly attractive to pollinators, bringing bees and butterflies into the garden. While it is more robust than many older cultivars, it still requires a sunny site and fertile soil. In many parts of the UK, particularly the south, it may survive winter in the ground if provided with a very thick mulch, but lifting tubers is the safest practice in colder regions. It is a brilliant 'new-age' dahlia that combines architectural foliage with vibrant colour.
