Dahlia 'Josie'
'Josie' is a vibrant and cheerful Mignon-type dahlia, characterised by its compact habit and single, bright orange-red flowers. Reaching only about 40-50cm in height, it is an ideal choice for the front of a border or for adding a splash of colour to patio containers. The flowers feature a single row of petals surrounding a central yellow disc, making them very accessible and attractive to bees and butterflies. Despite its smaller stature, it is incredibly floriferous, producing a constant stream of blooms from July until the late autumn frosts. Its neat, bushy habit means it rarely requires staking. In the UK, 'Josie' is valued for its ease of care and reliable performance. Like all dahlias, it requires a sunny spot and regular watering during dry spells. In autumn, the tubers should be lifted and stored in a frost-free place. It is a fantastic 'workhorse' plant for sustainable, pollinator-friendly gardening in small spaces.
