Dahlia 'Gerrie Hoek'
A classic Waterlily-type Dahlia, 'Gerrie Hoek' is highly regarded in the UK for its exquisite, soft shell-pink blooms that transition to a slightly deeper rose at the heart. Growing to approximately 100-120cm, it possesses a bushy, upright habit with strong, dark green foliage that provides a wonderful backdrop for the luminous flowers. In the UK climate, it blooms prolifically from mid-summer until the first frosts of autumn. It is particularly valued as a cut flower due to its elegant form and long vase life. To ensure success, plant the tubers in spring after the danger of frost has passed, choosing a fertile, well-drained spot. Like most dahlias, it requires lifting in colder or wetter regions of Britain to overwinter safely in a frost-free environment. Regular deadheading will encourage a continuous display of flowers throughout the season, making it a stalwart of the late summer herbaceous border.
