Dahlia 'Blue Bayou'

'Blue Bayou' is a captivating Anemone-flowered Dahlia, a group noted for having a central dome of tubular florets surrounded by a ring of flat outer petals. The colour is a unique and sophisticated shade of lavender-purple, which can appear almost blue in certain lights—a rare hue in the dahlia world. The central 'pincushion' is a darker, richer purple, creating a beautiful tonal contrast. This cultivar typically grows to around 90-100cm and is highly valued for its elegant, artistic form. In the UK, it is a fantastic choice for those who want a more muted or 'cool' colour palette in their late summer garden. Like all tuberous dahlias, it needs to be planted in a sunny, sheltered position and the tubers must be lifted in autumn to survive the British winter. It is an excellent flower for cutting, adding a touch of floral artistry to any bouquet. It is also relatively attractive to pollinators compared to fully double types.
