Dahlia 'American Dawn'

A stunning Decorative dahlia that is highly prized by UK gardeners for its unique, sunset-like hues. The blooms feature petals that are a beautiful blend of apricot, peach, and coral, with a distinct smoky raspberry reverse. This cultivar typically grows to a height of around 90cm to 100cm, making it an ideal choice for the middle of a herbaceous border. It produces an abundance of flowers from mid-summer right through to the first autumn frosts. Like most dahlias in the UK, it is rated H3 (half-hardy), meaning the tubers should be lifted and stored in a frost-free environment over winter, particularly in colder northerly regions. It thrives in full sun and requires a fertile, moist but well-drained soil to perform its best. Regular deadheading will encourage a continuous display of its vibrant, 10-15cm wide flower heads, which are also excellent for cutting.

Sun: Full sun.

Soil: Moist but well-drained, fertile loam.
