Himalayan Marsh Orchid
Dactylorhiza chuhensis, the Himalayan Marsh Orchid, is a stunning and increasingly popular marsh orchid for bog gardens and consistently moist areas. It produces captivating spikes of densely packed, vibrant magenta-purple flowers, often intricately speckled and marked, creating a truly exotic display. These beautiful blooms emerge in early to mid-summer above attractive, often spotted, strap-like leaves. It thrives in reliably moist, humus-rich, acidic soil in partial shade, mimicking its natural woodland bog habitat. Growing to a height of 30-60cm with a spread of 20-30cm, it's a true gem for the specialist aquatic gardener. It requires careful cultivation but rewards with a spectacular floral show. Hardy with protection in colder regions.
