Broom 'Boskoop Ruby'

Cytisus scoparius 'Boskoop Ruby' is a vibrant deciduous shrub renowned for its spectacular display of pea-like, ruby-red flowers in late spring and early summer. Reaching a height and spread of approximately 1.5-2 metres, it forms an upright, broom-like habit with slender green stems. The intensity of its flower colour makes it a standout feature in any UK garden, attracting early pollinators. Best planted in full sun, it thrives in poor, sandy, acidic soils and is remarkably drought-tolerant once established. It tolerates exposed sites and is an excellent choice for difficult areas where other plants struggle. 'Boskoop Ruby' is fully hardy but can be short-lived; a light prune after flowering helps prolong its life.
