Ivy-leaved cyclamen 'Silver Cloud'
A spectacular autumn-flowering tuberous perennial that is a staple of the British woodland garden. 'Silver Cloud' is particularly noted for its exquisite foliage; the ivy-shaped leaves are almost entirely Pewter-silver with just a thin margin of green, creating a bright effect in shaded areas. The flowers appear before or with the leaves in late summer, featuring elegant, swept-back petals in shades of soft pink. Once the flowers fade, the stems coil up like springs to deposit seeds directly onto the soil. It is incredibly tough, drought-tolerant once established, and will thrive in the dry shade found under large trees—a difficult spot for many plants. It is fully hardy and will slowly colonise an area over time, especially if the soil is well-drained. The foliage persists through the winter, providing decorative interest until the plant goes dormant in late spring. This cultivar is highly recommended for adding a touch of luminosity to dark garden corners.
