Arizona Cypress
The Arizona Cypress is a striking conifer with a distinctive, often broad pyramidal to conical habit and attractive, fragrant, blue-grey to grey-green scale-like foliage. It can reach an ultimate height of 10-15 metres with a spread of 4-7 metres in the UK. Its bark is often reddish-brown and exfoliating. Reasonably hardy (H5), it thrives in full sun and well-drained soil, tolerating dry conditions once established. It is an excellent choice for drier, sunnier sites and can make a good specimen tree, offering a distinct colour and texture. While its flowers are inconspicuous, it produces small, glaucous-blue cones. Provides good year-round structure and can be a good windbreak in milder areas.
