Courgette 'Yellow Fin'
'Yellow Fin' is a high-yielding F1 hybrid courgette that produces stunning, bright golden-yellow fruits with a contrasting dark green stem. This variety is particularly prized for its resistance to Powdery Mildew, a common ailment in the damp UK autumn, which significantly extends the harvest period. The plant has a neat, bushy, open habit, making the fruits easy to spot and pick—an advantage over denser, spiny varieties. The flavour is mild and buttery, and the texture remains firm even when the fruits grow slightly larger, although they are best harvested when 10-15cm long. Beyond the fruit, the large yellow blossoms are also edible and can be stuffed or fried as a delicacy. As a warmth-loving plant, it should be sown under glass in April and planted out in June. It requires plenty of space, regular watering, and frequent picking to ensure the plant continues to produce new flowers and fruit throughout the summer season.
