Cotoneaster 'Variegatus'

Cotoneaster horizontalis 'Variegatus' is a particularly attractive version of this reliable ground cover, bringing variegated interest to UK gardens. This deciduous or semi-evergreen shrub has a distinctive herringbone branching pattern, forming a wide, prostrate mat or cascading over banks and walls. Its small, glossy leaves are edged with creamy-white, providing year-round brightness. In late spring, tiny pink-tinged white flowers appear, followed by a profusion of bright red berries that persist well into winter, providing valuable food for birds. 'Variegatus' is very hardy (H6), tolerant of most well-drained soils and thrives in full sun to partial shade. Its spreading habit makes it excellent for weed suppression and year-round visual appeal.
