Mexican Aster 'Sonata White'

Cosmos bipinnatus 'Sonata White' is a dwarf variety of the popular annual, specifically bred for its compact habit and prolific flowering. Unlike its taller cousins, it rarely exceeds 60cm, making it perfect for smaller gardens, coastal locations, or containers where wind exposure might be an issue. It features pure white, daisy-like petals surrounding a bright yellow central disc, set against delicate, feathery, fern-like green foliage. This variety is exceptionally easy to grow and highly drought-tolerant once established. It is a staple of the English 'cutting garden' as the stems are sturdy enough for vases and the plant responds to picking by producing even more buds. It thrives in poor soils; excessive fertility can lead to lush leaf growth at the expense of its elegant flowers. It is an excellent choice for a low-maintenance, late-summer display.
