Dogwood 'Flaviramea'
Cornus sericea 'Flaviramea', also known as Yellow Twig Dogwood, is a striking deciduous shrub primarily grown for its vibrant, bare stems that provide exceptional winter interest in the UK garden. Although it reaches 2.5-3 metres in height and spread, its true spectacle comes after leaf fall when its brilliant golden-yellow stems are revealed against a wintery backdrop. Small white flowers appear in late spring, followed by white berries that are attractive to birds. It thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil, tolerating damper conditions than many shrubs. For the best stem colour, a hard prune in early spring before new growth emerges is recommended. It is fully hardy.
