Flowering Dogwood
A beautiful small deciduous tree, highly prized for its spectacular display of large, showy white bracts (often mistaken for petals) that surround tiny true flowers in late spring to early summer. It typically grows 4-7m tall with a graceful, spreading, tiered habit. The oval leaves turn brilliant shades of red and purple in autumn, followed by glossy red berries. Hardy (H5), it requires a sheltered position in partial shade and moist, well-drained, acidic to neutral soil. A superb specimen tree for dramatic seasonal interest, particularly in smaller gardens.
