Autumn crocus
Autumn crocus (Colchicum tenorei) is a charming bulb, producing delightful goblet-shaped, pinkish-purple flowers directly from the ground in early autumn, often before any foliage appears. Perfect for naturalising in lawns, under deciduous trees, or in rock gardens, it adds a welcome splash of colour as other plants fade. Its compact habit makes it suitable for smaller gardens too.
Sun: Full sun to partial shade.
Soil: Well-drained loam or sandy soil.
Hardiness: H7 — below −20°C.
Flowering: Sep, Oct.
