Viticella Clematis 'Venosa Violacea'
An award-winning and strikingly beautiful viticella-type clematis. The flowers are medium-sized and feature a white background with vivid violet-purple veins radiating from the centre towards the edges of the petals, giving a bicolour or 'stippled' effect. It is a Group 3 clematis, meaning it is easy to maintain with a hard prune in late winter. This variety is exceptionally floriferous and vigorous, reaching heights of 3-4 metres. It is highly resistant to clematis wilt, making it a reliable choice for UK gardeners. It is perfect for growing through large shrubs, over roses, or up a trellis. It prefers a sunny or partially shaded position and is fully hardy. Because of its busy pattern, it is often best viewed up close or planted against a plain, light-coloured background where the intricate veining can be appreciated. It is an excellent choice for a low-maintenance, high-impact summer display.
Sun: Full sun to partial shade.
Soil: Any well-drained, fertile soil.
Hardiness: H6 — down to −20°C.
Flowering: Jul, Aug, Sep.
