Rock Rose 'Jenkyn Place'
Cistus x dansereaui 'Jenkyn Place' is a standout evergreen shrub prized for its large, showy flowers and aromatic foliage. This cultivar produces striking white flowers, each petal marked with a bold, dark crimson-maroon blotch at the base, surrounding a golden centre. The foliage is dark green and slightly resinous, releasing a pleasant, spicy scent on warm summer days. It has a vigorous, upright yet bushy growth habit, typically reaching around 1.2 metres in height and spread. It is an ideal specimen for a sunny border or a Mediterranean-style planting scheme where its dramatic floral display can be appreciated. Like most Cistus, it is short-lived but fast-growing. It is well-suited to the UK climate provided it is grown in a sheltered position in full sun. It is particularly tolerant of poor, sandy soils and requires very little maintenance once established, though light tipping of young shoots can help maintain a bushy form.
