Chicory 'Rossa di Treviso'
Chicory 'Rossa di Treviso' is a stunning Italian heading chicory, similar to a radicchio, forming elongated, upright heads with striking deep red leaves and prominent white veins. It offers a pleasing bitterness, mellowed by cooking. This hardy perennial (H5) often grown as an annual, reaches an ultimate height of 30cm and spread of 20cm. Sow in summer for an autumn and winter harvest. It prefers full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. The beautiful blue flowers, if allowed to bloom, attract bees. A truly ornamental and delicious winter salad or cooked vegetable.
