Sugarloaf Chicory
Sugarloaf Chicory is a relatively mild-flavoured chicory that forms large, elongated, self-blanching heads, resembling a Cos lettuce. It reaches 30-40cm in height and 20-30cm in spread. Small, pale blue chicory flowers may appear if left to bolt. Chicory prefers a sunny position and well-drained, fertile soil. H6. Excellent for late summer and autumn harvests, providing crisp leaves for salads when other lettuces may be past their best. Its subtle bitterness adds depth to dishes.
