Endive 'Pancaliere a Costa Bianca'

Cichorium endivia 'Pancaliere a Costa Bianca' is a traditional Italian endive known for its broad, crisp, white central ribs and slightly curly, green outer leaves. This fast-growing annual typically forms a spreading rosette, reaching 20-30cm in height and 30-45cm in spread. It is moderately hardy and best sown in late summer for autumn and winter harvests, as it can bolt in hot weather. 'Pancaliere a Costa Bianca' thrives in full sun to partial shade with fertile, moist, well-drained soil. Blanching the heart by tying up the outer leaves for a week or two before harvest improves flavour and tenderness. RHS hardiness rating H3.
