Pink Bamboo 'Cana Dura'
Chusquea culeou 'Cana Dura' is a magnificent and distinct clump-forming bamboo, valued in UK gardens for its incredibly solid, upright culms that start green and mature to a lovely yellowish colour. This particular cultivar is known for its robust habit and architectural presence, making it an excellent choice for a dramatic specimen plant or a strong, non-invasive screen. The culms are notable for their lack of a hollow centre, a rare trait among bamboos. It forms a dense, upright clump of canes clothed in small, dark green leaves. It prefers a good, moist, well-drained soil and a sheltered position, ideally in partial shade, though it can tolerate some sun if the soil remains consistently moist. It is hardy.
Sun: Full sun to partial shade.
Soil: Moist, well-drained loam.
