Mexican Orange Blossom 'Apple Blossom'

Choisya × dewitteana 'Apple Blossom' is a stunning evergreen shrub that offers a softer, more decorative alternative to traditional hedging. This cultivar is prized for its bi-coloured flowers; the buds open from a deep pink to reveal star-shaped white petals with a pink flush on the reverse. These flowers appear in abundance during late spring and often provide a second flush in late summer or autumn, filling the air with a sweet, citrus fragrance. The foliage is equally attractive, featuring finely divided, palmate leaves that are a glossy dark green. It has a compact, rounded habit, typically reaching around 1.5 metres, making it perfect for a low-to-medium decorative hedge. It is hardy (H4) in most of the UK but prefers a sheltered spot away from cold, drying winds. It grows best in well-drained soil in full sun, which promotes the best flowering, though it will tolerate light shade.

Sun: Full sun to partial shade.

Soil: Well-drained, fertile soil.

Hardiness: H4 — down to −10°C.
