Fat Stalk Bamboo 'Tengiz'

Chimonobambusa quadrangularis 'Tengiz' is a distinctive and ornamental running bamboo known for its fascinating square-shaped culms, which are a true talking point in any UK garden. This unique anatomical feature gives it a strong architectural presence. The culms are initially green, maturing to a lovely olive-brown, and are clothed in dark green foliage. While it is a running bamboo, its spread is generally less aggressive than many Phyllostachys species, though a root barrier is still advisable in smaller gardens. It prefers a sheltered spot with some shade to protect its canes and foliage from strong winds and harsh sun, thriving in rich, moist, well-drained soil.

Sun: Partial shade.
