Fan palm

The European Fan Palm, a robust and attractive palm, is surprisingly hardy for many UK gardens, particularly in coastal or urban areas. This multi-stemmed palm forms a dense clump of stiff, fan-shaped leaves, offering a distinctive architectural presence. While it can tolerate some shade, it flourishes in full sun, where its growth is most vigorous. It's tolerant of various soil types, provided they are well-drained. In mild summers, small yellow flowers may appear, followed by inedible brown dates. Protect from severe frosts with fleece in colder regions. Ideal for creating a Mediterranean feel in borders or large pots.
