Sawara Cypress cultivar 'Filifera Aurea Nana'

This is a delightful dwarf conifer that adds a burst of sunshine to the garden throughout the year. 'Filifera Aurea Nana' features unique 'thread-like' or whip-cord foliage that cascades in a mop-headed mound. This cultivar is prized for its brilliant golden-yellow colour, which keeps its intensity even in the winter. It is slow-growing and compact, typically reaching only 60-90cm in height and width, making it perfect for the front of borders, rockeries, or containers. It is fully hardy (H6) in the UK and relatively easy to grow. It prefers a moist but well-drained soil and a position in full sun to achieve the best golden hue; in partial shade, it will be more lime-green. The texture of the foliage is soft to the touch, and its weeping habit gives it a relaxed, informal feel. It is a low-maintenance plant that provides excellent year-round structure and a strong splash of colour.

Sun: Full sun to partial shade.

Soil: Moist, well-drained soil; neutral to acidic preferred.

Hardiness: H6 — down to −20°C.
