Golden Hinoki Cypress 'Pygmaea Aurescens'

Chamaecyparis obtusa 'Pygmaea Aurescens' is a charming dwarf Hinoki Cypress, forming an irregular, dense, flat-topped mound with shell-like foliage. Its unique appeal lies in the changing colours of its foliage: bright gold-green in summer, transitioning to attractive coppery and bronze tones in autumn and winter, especially on exposed tips. It is very slow-growing, reaching only 0.3-0.5m in height with a spread of 0.6-1m over many years, making it ideal for rock gardens, alpine troughs, or bonsai. It thrives in moist, well-drained, acidic soil and prefers partial shade to protect its delicate foliage from scorching in intense sun. This cultivar provides exquisite texture and seasonal colour shifts.
