Lawson 's Cypress 'Wisselii'

'Wisselii' is a distinctive and architecturally interesting cultivar of the Lawson Cypress, valued for its narrow, upright, and somewhat irregular growth habit. It is particularly noted for its dense, congested tufts of dark blue-green foliage which give the plant a rugged, textured appearance quite unlike the smoother Lawson varieties. In spring, the branch tips are often adorned with tiny, attractive crimson male cones, providing a subtle but beautiful contrast against the glaucous needles. This conifer is fully hardy (H6) and thrives in most well-drained soils, though it prefers a position in full sun to maintain its deep coloration and tight form. It is an excellent choice for a specimen plant in a smaller garden or as part of a formal conifer border where its vertical accent and unique texture can be fully appreciated. It requires very little maintenance and is generally pest-resistant.
