Cornflower 'Classic Magic'
'Classic Magic' is a sophisticated and moody colour mix of the traditional UK wildflower, the blue cornflower. This selection features a range of deep bicoloured blooms, moving from dark plum and maroon to almost black centres with frosted silvery edges. It brings a contemporary edge to the hardy annual border and grows to approximately 80cm in height. The stems are wiry and elegant, making them superb for cutting. Cornflowers are very easy to grow and are particularly valuable for pollinators, especially bees. They thrive in a sunny spot with relatively poor soil; too much nitrogen can lead to excessive leaf growth at the expense of flowers. Sow them directly into the ground in spring for summer flowers, or in September for an earlier, leafier display the following June. They are exceptionally hardy and reliable across all regions of the UK.
