Himalayan Cedar 'Golden Horizon'

Cedrus deodara 'Golden Horizon' is a spectacular, wide-spreading conifer with a semi-prostrate habit and pendulous branch tips. It is primarily grown for its beautiful foliage, which emerges a radiant golden-yellow before maturing to a softer yellowish-green. This cultivar provides an excellent horizontal accent and is particularly effective when planted where it can spill over a wall or down a slope. It is hardy (H6) across most of the UK, though it appreciates a sunny site that is sheltered from the coldest, most desiccating winter winds. It thrives in well-drained, fertile soil and is surprisingly drought-tolerant once it has established a deep root system. While it can eventually spread to several metres, its movement is slow and manageable with occasional light pruning. The bright foliage makes it an excellent choice for a focal point, especially when contrasted with darker green or purple-leaved plants. Its graceful, weeping habit adds a sense of movement and elegance to the landscape.
