Oshima Sedge 'Everillo'

'Everillo' is a brilliant evergreen sedge that provides a year-round splash of lime-green to bright yellow colour. It forms a neat, cascading mound of arching, leathery leaves that light up shady corners of the garden. Unlike many grasses, it thrives in partial shade, where its neon-yellow colour is most intense; in full sun, it may take on a more lime-green hue. It is an excellent choice for ground cover, path edging, or as a vibrant component in winter containers. It is relatively low-maintenance, requiring only a light tidy-up in spring to remove any dead or wind-burned leaf tips. It is hardy throughout most of the UK (H4). While it prefers moist, well-drained soil, it is surprisingly tolerant of drier conditions once established. It produces inconspicuous brownish flower spikes in spring, but its primary appeal is the luminous, architectural foliage that remains attractive even in the depths of winter.
