Canna Lily 'Cleopatra'

Canna 'Cleopatra' is a fascinating and highly unusual cultivar known for its unstable genetics, which result in a striking 'chimera' effect on both the foliage and the flowers. The plant can produce both green and dark purple-chocolate leaves on the same stem, and the flowers are equally unpredictable—they can be pure yellow, pure red, or dramatically splashed and spotted with both colours, sometimes even split down the middle. This element of surprise makes it a popular choice for gardeners who enjoy unique and varied displays. Reaching around 120cm in height, it provides a strong vertical accent and a tropical feel. Like all Cannas, it is a tender tuberous perennial (H3) and must be lifted and stored over winter in a frost-free environment in the UK. It requires a hot, sunny, sheltered spot and plenty of water and nutrients during the growing season. Its unpredictable nature ensures that no two plants, or even two seasons, will look exactly the same.
