Pot Marigold 'Sunset Buff'
'Sunset Buff' is a refined and modern version of the traditional Pot Marigold, perfect for UK gardeners who find bright oranges too garish. It features beautiful, double flowers in shades of creamy-apricot and subtle buff, with a contrasting dark mahogany-red reverse to the petals. This creates a sophisticated, multi-toned effect in the garden. Growing to about 45-60cm, it is easy to grow and very hardy (H5). Calendula is incredibly versatile: it's edible, attractive to beneficial insects, and thrives in almost any soil condition as long as it isn't waterlogged. For the longest display, sow in succession from March to May, or in late August for earlier blooms the following year. It is a great choice for filling gaps in the border or for a productive vegetable garden companion. It also makes a lovely, understated cut flower with a long vase life. Regular deadheading will prevent it from setting seed too quickly.
Sun: Full sun to partial shade.
Soil: Any well-drained soil.
Hardiness: H5 — down to −15°C.
Flowering: Jun, Jul, Aug, Sep, Oct.
