Korean Feather Reed Grass
Calamagrostis brachytricha, often called Korean Feather Reed Grass, is a superb ornamental grass for UK gardens, valued for its elegant, arching habit and beautiful late-season show. It forms an attractive clump of glossy, mid-green foliage, which provides a fresh look throughout the summer. In late summer to early autumn, tall, sturdy stems emerge, topped with soft, fluffy, feathery plumes that are initially pinkish-purple and mature to a warm, silvery-tan. These plumes hold their shape exceptionally well, providing significant winter interest, especially when rimed with frost. This grass is versatile, thriving in full sun to partial shade and a range of soil types, including clay. It's an excellent choice for borders, mass plantings, or anywhere a graceful, vertical accent is desired.
