Butterfly Bush Bird Bird Bird 'Blue Chip'

Part of the revolutionary 'Lo & Behold' series, 'Blue Chip' is a truly dwarf Buddleja that has changed the way this species is used in the garden. Unlike the common, often invasive, butterfly bush, 'Blue Chip' stays small and compact, making it an excellent choice for a low, flowering deciduous hedge. It produces a prolific number of small, fragrant, blue-purple flower spikes from mid-summer until the first frosts. These blooms are a magnet for butterflies, bees, and other pollinators. This cultivar is also sterile, meaning it won't self-seed all over the garden. It is very hardy and easy to grow, thriving in almost any well-drained soil and preferring a sunny position for the best flowering. As a hedge, it offers a soft, informal look and should be cut back hard in early spring to maintain its compact shape and encourage vigorous new flowering wood. Its manageable size and long flowering period make it a superb alternative to traditional low hedging.
