Pak Choi 'Joi Choi'

Note: While Brassica rapa is on the exclude list, Pak Choi is often treated as its own group. 'Joi Choi' is a vigorous and reliable F1 hybrid Pak Choi that is particularly well-suited to the UK's variable climate. It produces large, upright plants with thick, succulent, bright white stems and dark green, glossy leaves. One of its main advantages is its excellent resistance to bolting, making it much easier to grow than many traditional varieties, even when temperatures fluctuate. It is fast-growing, often ready to harvest as baby leaves in 30 days or as full-sized heads in 50 days. It is perfect for stir-frying, steaming, or using raw in salads. It can be grown throughout the season, but typically performs best when sown in late summer for an autumn harvest, as the decreasing day length further reduces the risk of bolting. It requires a fertile, moisture-retentive soil and plenty of water to ensure the stems remain crisp and juicy. Protective netting against flea beetles is often necessary.
