Mizuna 'Kyoto'

'Kyoto' is a traditional Japanese variety of Mizuna that is exceptionally well-suited to the UK's cooler climate. It produces vigorous clumps of feathery, deeply-serrated light green leaves with slender white stems. One of its greatest strengths is its extreme hardiness; it can be grown and harvested throughout the winter months if given modest protection. The flavour is mildly peppery, much more subtle than rocket, making it a versatile addition to salads or stir-frys. It is an ideal "cut-and-come-again" crop; regular harvesting of the outer leaves encourages the plant to produce more foliage from the centre. 'Kyoto' is also very slow to bolt, even in the lengthening days of spring. It can be grown in the ground or in containers and is remarkably easy to cultivate from seed. It is a perfect choice for those looking to maintain a productive vegetable garden year-round with minimal effort. It is also highly decorative in the garden.
