Kohlrabi 'Purple Vienna'

'Purple Vienna' is a visually striking kohlrabi cultivar, forming vibrant purple, globe-shaped bulbs (swollen stems) that offer a crisp texture and a sweet, mild, turnip-like flavour. The purple colour is a fantastic addition to the vegetable plot. The plant typically grows to 30-40cm tall with a similar spread. 'Purple Vienna' is H6 hardy, making it well-suited to the UK climate. It thrives in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Sow little and often from spring to late summer for a continuous harvest. Best eaten young and tender when the bulbs are 5-8cm in diameter to avoid toughness. Can be used raw in salads or lightly cooked. An attractive and easy-to-grow brassica.
