Hardy Himalayan Bamboo

Borinda fungosa, sometimes referred to as 'Hardy Himalayan Bamboo', is a graceful and relatively new introduction to UK horticulture, offering a beautiful clump-forming habit. It produces slender, arching culms that emerge a pleasing blue-green, maturing to a yellow-green with age, creating a soft, weeping effect. Standing at 3-4 metres, it forms an elegant, open clump. This bamboo is hardy (H5) but benefits from a sheltered position in partial shade, protected from harsh winter winds, and requires consistently moist, well-trained, humus-rich soil. Flowering is infrequent. Its delicate appearance, combined with its non-invasive nature, makes it an excellent choice for a specimen plant in a tranquil corner or for adding year-round movement and texture to woodland-style gardens.

Sun: Partial shade.

Soil: Moist, well-drained, humus-rich loam.
