Beetroot 'Cheltenham Green Top'

'Cheltenham Green Top' is a traditional, heritage beetroot cultivar, producing long, tapering, dark red roots with a sweet, earthy flavour and fine texture. It's particularly good for storing over winter. The foliage is relatively modest, growing to about 30cm tall, with roots reaching 20-25cm in length. This beetroot is H6 hardy and well-suited to the UK climate. It thrives in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil. Sow from spring to mid-summer for successional harvests. Regular watering helps prevent the roots from becoming woody. The young leaves can also be eaten as a tender green. A reliable and flavoursome choice for those who appreciate heritage varieties and good storage qualities.
