Swiss Chard 'Ruby Red'
'Ruby Red' Swiss Chard is a stunning and productive leafy green, celebrated for its vibrant crimson stems and veins contrasting with dark green, crinkled leaves. This ornamental and edible plant can reach 40-60cm in height and 30-40cm in spread, making it a real eye-catcher in the vegetable patch or even in ornamental beds. It's extremely hardy (H6), capable of overwintering in milder UK regions. 'Ruby Red' thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers rich, moist, well-drained soil. Both the leaves and stems are edible; the leaves can be used like spinach, while the stems can be cooked like asparagus. Continuous harvesting encourages new growth, providing a long cropping season. An RHS AGM winner for its reliability and beauty.
