Bestroot 'Action'
'Action' is a high-quality F1 hybrid beetroot that has become popular in the UK for its very fast growth and smooth-skinned, uniform roots. It produces globe-shaped beets with a deep red internal colour and a sweet, earthy flavour without any woody rings. One of its standout features for British gardeners is its exceptional resistance to bolting, making it ideal for the earliest spring sowings. The foliage is upright and healthy, reaching about 30cm. It can be harvested young as 'baby beets' or left to mature to the size of a tennis ball. It prefers a light, fertile soil and an open, sunny position. Like all beetroots, it is hardy (H4) and the roots can be left in the ground into autumn, although they should be lifted before severe frosts. Its fast-maturing nature (often ready in just 10-12 weeks) makes it an excellent choice for successional sowing to ensure a continuous supply throughout the summer.
