Purple Japanese Barberry 'Admiration'
A truly dwarf deciduous shrub that is perfect for very low hedges or decorative bordering. 'Admiration' is famous for its exceptional foliage: small, bright orange-red leaves that feature a thin, distinct yellow margin around each leaf. This colour remains vibrant throughout the summer before deepening to a rich red in autumn. Its habit is naturally compact and rounded, requiring almost no pruning to keep it in shape. Like its relatives, it has small thorns, providing a minor deterrent despite its small stature. It is fully hardy and very easy to grow, adapting to most soil conditions as long as they are well-drained. It is particularly effective when planted en masse to create a colourful, low-level partition. The intensity of its foliage colour is best achieved in a Sunny position. It is drought-tolerant once established and generally pest and disease-free. A versatile plant that brings a high-impact colour contrast to any garden design.
