English Daisy 'Tasso Red'
Bellis perennis 'Tasso Red' is a highly bred version of the humble lawn daisy, specifically designed for spring bedding displays. This biennial variety produces large, fully double, pompon-like flowers in a deep, vibrant red. The plants form neat, low-growing rosettes of green leaves, with the flowers held on short, sturdy stems. They are incredibly tough (H7) and will bloom through the chill of late winter and early spring, often being used to provide colour alongside pansies and wallflowers. They are perfect for window boxes, containers, or the front of a border. In the UK, they are usually sown in summer, pricked out, and then planted into their final positions in autumn. They prefer a moist but well-drained soil and will grow happily in either full sun or partial shade. While they are botanically perennial, they are almost always treated as biennials because they become leggy and less floriferous in their third year. They provide a cheerful and reliable burst of early colour.
